What is a Merchant Account?A merchant account is simply a relationship between a retailer and a merchant bank that enables retailers to accept credit card and debit card payments from their customers. A merchant account includes a special merchant bank account set up especially to allow a Merchant Account Provider to deposit payments into your business account. To accept payments online, you must have an Internet merchant account. ^ top What is an Internet Merchant Account?An Internet merchant account is a merchant account that allows you to accept payments online. You may already have a regular merchant account for your business, but to accept payments online, you must have a separate Internet merchant account. ^ top I already have a merchant account for my business. How do I use it for the Internet?You may have a merchant account for your retail business, but you need a separate Internet merchant account to accept payments online. Contact PPI Sales: ^ top What is the difference between a Canadian dollar merchant account and a US dollar merchant account?A Canadian dollar Internet merchant account allows you to charge your customers in Canadian dollars. A US dollar Internet merchant account allows you to charge your customers in US dollars. If you have a Canadian dollar Internet merchant account you can still receive payments from US cardholders, but transaction amounts appear as Canadian dollars. If you have a US dollar Internet merchant account you can still receive payments from Canadian cardholders, but transaction amounts appear as US dollars. ^ top |
