What is a Merchant Account?

A merchant account is simply a relationship between a retailer and a merchant bank that enables retailers to accept credit card and debit card payments from their customers. A merchant account includes a special merchant bank account set up especially to allow a Merchant Account Provider to deposit payments into your business account. To accept payments online, you must have an Internet merchant account.

What is an Internet Merchant Account?

An Internet merchant account is a merchant account that allows you to accept payments online. You may already have a regular merchant account for your business, but to accept payments online, you must have a separate Internet merchant account.

I already have a merchant account for my business. How do I use it for the Internet?

You may have a merchant account for your retail business, but you need a separate Internet merchant account to accept payments online. Although Payment Processing, Inc is not a Merchant Account Provider, a Payment Processing, Inc sales representative can help you find one.

I already have an Internet merchant account. What information do I need to supply PPI to become a PPI merchant?

You'll need to provide details about your payment processor and your business information for the Payment Processing, Inc merchant application. Your Merchant Account Provider can provide you with that information. If you have any questions, a PPI sales representative will be happy to help you.

What is the difference between a Canadian dollar merchant account and a US dollar merchant account?

A Canadian dollar Internet merchant account allows you to charge your customers in Canadian dollars. A US dollar Internet merchant account allows you to charge your customers in US dollars.

If you have a Canadian dollar Internet merchant account you can still receive payments from US cardholders, but transaction amounts appear as Canadian dollars.

If you have a US dollar Internet merchant account you can still receive payments from Canadian cardholders, but transaction amounts appear as US dollars.
